Pray Aviation offers a comprehensive Instrument Pilot Course designed to equip pilots with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate aircraft in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) safely and effectively. Our course is designed to cater to both aspiring pilots looking to enhance their skills and experienced pilots seeking to advance their careers. Onsite housing is also available.
Our part 141/61 course includes in-depth ground school training covering topics such as instrument flight rules, navigation systems, weather theory, air traffic control procedures, and more.
Students will have the opportunity to practice instrument flying techniques in our advanced flight simulators, which provide a realistic and immersive training environment.
The course includes hands-on flight training with experienced instructors, where students will learn how to fly solely by reference to instruments, perform instrument approaches, and handle emergency situations in simulated and actual IMC.
Students will gain practical experience in planning and executing cross-country flights using instrument navigation techniques while under careful instruction of well-trained CFII’s.
Obtaining an instrument rating is crucial for pilots for several reasons:
Enhanced Safety: Flying in IMC without proper training can be extremely dangerous. An instrument rating allows pilots to navigate through adverse weather conditions, low visibility, and other challenging situations safely.
Career Advancement: Many employers, especially airlines, require pilots to hold an instrument rating. Having this qualification can open up new job opportunities and career advancement prospects.
Increased Flexibility: With an instrument rating, pilots can fly in a wider range of weather conditions and at night, increasing their operational flexibility.
Improved Skills: Instrument training enhances a pilot's overall flying skills, including situational awareness, decision-making, and precision flying techniques.
FAA Regulatory Compliance: In certain situations, such as flying in controlled airspace or on certain instrument flight rules (IFR) flight plans, having an instrument rating is a regulatory requirement.
Overall, obtaining an instrument rating is a valuable investment in your aviation career, providing you with the skills and confidence to fly safely and proficiently in a variety of conditions. At Pray Aviation, we are committed to helping you achieve your goals and become a proficient instrument pilot.
In Part 61 programs, there are no certification procedures for each course of training and instead can be completed in a sequence designated by either a flight instructor or flight school.
To earn an Instrument Pilot License single-engine rating, the student:
1. FAR 61.65 (d)(1) – 50 Hours of Cross-Country flight as PIC.
2. FAR 61.65 (d)(1) – 10 hours of Cross-Country flight as PIC in an airplane.
3. FAR 61.65 (d)(2) – 40 hours of actual or simulated Instrument time
4. FAR 61.65 (d)(2) – 15 hours of instrument Training from an authorized instructor (CFII)
5. FAR 61.65 (d)(2)(i) – 3 hours of instrument flight training in an airplane within 2 calendar months Before the Test.
6. FAR 61.65 (d)(2)(ii) – Cross-country flight in an airplane of at least 250NM with at least 3 approaches.
In contrast to Part 61, a flight school that is Part 141 approved means that not only does the school meet the FAA requirements, but the course has been specifically approved. The result is that some of the aeronautical experience requirements can be reduced although it’s not always the case. To meet the minimum requirements under Part 141 for an Instrument rating, the student:
1. FAR 141 Appendix (C)(4)(a)(1) – Must have at least 35 hours of actual or simulated instrument time
2. FAR 141 Appendix (C)(4)(a)(1) – A Cross-Country flight in an airplane of at least 250NM with at least 3 approaches.
An instrument rating opens a whole new world of flying! Don’t let weather limitations hold you back. With this advanced qualification, you can:
